Peanut Patties

Grandma Reva's Recipe

 

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups sugar

1 cup milk

3/4 cup white Karo syrup

12 ounce package raw peanuts

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

 

Cook sugar, milk, Karo, and peanuts to softball candy stage. Add powdered sugar, but, red coloring and beat until creamy. Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper. Set at room temperature.

Coke Cake

Recipe from Aunt Janet

 

Ingredients:

1/2 cup margarine

3 1/2 tablespoons cocoa

1/2 cup crisco

1 cup Coke

2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 eggs, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 1/2 cups marshmallows

 

Mix butter, crisco, and coke, bring to rapid boil and pour over flour and sugar. Mix well and add eggs, buttermilk, cocoa, vanilla, and marshmallows. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 35 minutes in 9x13 inch pan. 10 minutes before cake is done make frosting.

 

Frosting:

1/2 cup butter

1 box powdered sugar, or enough until thick pudding consistency

3 1/2 tablespoons cocoa

1/3 cup Coke

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup pecans

Mix well and spread on top of warm cake.

Grandpa Lowell Hill's Vanilla Ice Cream

This was created by Grandpa Lowell. "Sweet the best you ever did eat!"

 

Ingredients:

2 cups whipping cream

2 cups whole milk

3 1/2 cups sugar

4 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

 

Add cream to eggs, beat 10 minutes. Pour into can 2/3rds from the top. Run ice cream maker until ice cream is thickened and done.

 

Grandpa's Ice Cream modified to little ice cream makers:

3/4 cup whipping cream

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/2 cup sugar

Make in same fashion as before.

Special K Cookies

From Grandma Reva

 

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1 stick butter

1 Karo bottle

1 cup peanut butter

5 cups Special K cereal

 

Combine sugar, butter, and Karo in sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Allow to boil 2 minutes, then add peanut butter, mix well. Remove from heat and gently stir in Special K cereal.

Jarod's Wacky Cake

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup sugar

3 tablespoons cocoa

1 teaspoon soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon vinegar

5 tablespoons oil

1 cup cold water

 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix all dry ingredients and make 3 wells in 8x8 inch pan. Put vinegar, vanilla, and oil each in separate wells. Pour water over all ingredients in pan. Whisk all ingredients together. "Whisk it, whisk it good!" Bake 25 minutes. 

Peanut Squares

Recipe from Aunt Millie (Dad's Aunt)

 

Ingredients:

20 ounce jar peanuts

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup white Karo

1/2 cup cold water

1 teaspoon vinegar

1 tablespoon butter

 

In heavy sauce pan mix sugar, Karo, water, and vinegar. Heat on medium heat (without stirring) until a spoon dipped in mixture comes out forming very fine threads (thin as hair). This would probably form a firm ball dropped in cold water (250 degrees).  Mix in butter and peanuts. Place in buttered pan to cool. 

Fast Cheesecake

Mom created this easy version of cheesecake!

 

Ingredients:

Vanilla

1/4 cup sugar

1 cup sour cream

2, 8 ounce cream cheese, softened

8 ounces cool whip

 

Combine all ingredients and pour into graham cracker crust. Refrigerate until set.
